Using CarePilot with iPad Multitasking

Run CarePilot side-by-side with your EHR using iPad Split View and Slide Over

Overview

iPad multitasking lets you run CarePilot side-by-side with your EHR—no app-switching needed. This guide covers how to set it up.

Requirements

  • iPad with iPadOS 15 or later (Split View and Slide Over originally introduced in iOS 9; Windowed Apps mode available in iPadOS 16+)

  • CarePilot app installed and signed in

  • Your EHR accessible via browser or App

Enable Windowed Apps on Your iPad

Enable Windowed Apps mode so CarePilot can run alongside Safari.

  1. Open the Settings app on your iPad.

  2. Scroll down and tap Multitasking & Gestures.

  3. Under the multitasking options at the top, select Windowed Apps. This replaces the default "Full Screen Apps" mode and allows you to resize and arrange multiple app windows side by side.

Option 1: Use CarePilot in Slide Over Mode

Slide Over opens CarePilot as a floating window over your EHR tab—ideal for a quick schedule check without leaving your workflow.

  1. Open browser/App with your EHR in full screen.

  2. Swipe up slowly from the bottom of the screen to reveal the Dock.

  3. Touch and hold the CarePilot icon in the Dock, then drag it onto the screen.

  4. Release it over the right or left edge of the screen. CarePilot will appear as a narrow floating window on top of your other app.

Tip: You can swipe the Slide Over window off the edge of the screen to hide it temporarily, and swipe it back in when you need it.

Option 2: Use CarePilot in Split View Mode

Split View divides the screen into two side-by-side windows—ideal for viewing your CarePilot schedule while working in your EHR browser tab.

  1. Open Safari with your EHR in full screen.

  2. Swipe up slowly from the bottom to reveal the Dock.

  3. Touch and hold the CarePilot icon in the Dock, then drag it to the far left or right edge of the screen until the current app slides over to make room.

  4. Release to drop CarePilot into Split View. Both apps will now share the screen.

  5. To adjust the split ratio, drag the divider bar between the two apps left or right.

Recommended Workflow: CarePilot + EHR

The recommended setup is your EHR on the left and CarePilot on the right. This lets you:

  • View your CarePilot schedule while reviewing patient records in your EHR
