Using Amelia to Write Rules

Using Amelia to create, edit, activate/deactivate, or delete CarePilot rules.

A good workflow is:

  1. Tell Amelia the behavior you want.

    • Example: “Create a rule that when I order diclofenac, use 75 mg BID, quantity 60, no refills.”

    • Or: “Make my notes always include patient-friendly instructions.”

  2. Amelia will check existing rules first.

    • Amelia will look for duplicates or conflicts before drafting a new one.

  3. Amelia drafts the rule in a precise format.

    • Trigger: when it applies.

    • Actions: exactly what CarePilot should do.

    • Categories: note, billing, amelia, problem, or order.

    • Scope: usually just me unless you want/are able to make it organization-wide.

  4. Review the preview

    • Amelia will not save, update, or delete anything until you explicitly confirm.

  5. New rules are created inactive

    • You can ask Amelia to activate it, or manage it at Profile → Customization → Rules.

Best rules are specific and testable, like:

IF doctor orders Diclofenac, THEN CarePilot must always set dose, quantity, SIG, refills, and attach the active treating diagnosis.

You can start with: “Create a rule that…” or “Help me write a rule for…”
