Audio Capture Best Practices

Topic

Best Practice

Telehealth Visits

Use your phone with the CarePilot app placed next to your computer to ensure accurate audio capture. Avoid headphones or headsets as CarePilot needs to hear both sides of the conversation. Keep your telehealth platform open on the computer and CarePilot running on the phone.

Headphones/Headsets

Headphones or headsets (including AirPods) cannot be used for telehealth visits, as the mic will not capture the patient’s side of the conversation. However, they can be used for dictation.

Phone Calls

Use CarePilot on a second device, such as a tablet or computer, to capture phone call audio by placing the call on speaker.

Quiet Environment

Use CarePilot in a quiet environment. Background noise, especially other conversations, can interfere with audio quality and reduce transcription accuracy.

Laptop Setup

Position your laptop as close as possible to yourself and the patient. Keep the lid open and oriented toward the conversation. Observe the mic volume indicator to ensure proper audio capture.

Phone or Tablet Setup

Place your phone or tablet on a stable surface between yourself and the patient. Monitor the mic volume indicator to ensure audio is being captured.

External Microphones

Position external microphones close to yourself and the patient. Orient the mic toward the conversation and check the mic volume indicator.

Screen Lock Prevention

CarePilot may not be able to prevent your screen from locking or sleeping. Monitor your device to ensure recording continues. If recording pauses, you can resume it manually.

Desktop Browser: Navigating Windows

Some browsers or extensions may freeze website activity when the window is not in focus, interrupting CarePilot’s audio capture. Keep the browser visible during the session.

Smartphone or Tablet: Navigating Apps

Switching to another app will pause CarePilot's recording. Keep the CarePilot app open and in focus.
